Gameplay of Wolverine:
The game begins with
the prologue showing Wolverine fighting a group of soldiers sent to capture him.
While fighting the soldiers he began thinking about his experience in Angola,
Africa. He teamed up with his brother Victor, Wade Wilson, John Wraith, and
Nord, led by Colonel Stryker. This is the final mission of Team X, and the
objective is to locate a village that holds the secret to a valuable mineral
deposit. Team X locates the village but the villagers refuse to cooperate and Stryker
threatens their lives. Logan turns on his teammates but he is subdued and
knocked out before he can prevent the massacre of the villagers.
Three years later, Team
X almost disbanded. Logan had moved to Canada with his girlfriend. Creed
locates Logan in Canada and defeats him in a fight, breaking Logan's bone claws
and knocking him out. Logan wakes up and finds Kayla dead.
Stryker offers Logan
help the revenge for Kayla's death through a procedure. Logan agrees, but at
the end of the procedure, he hears Stryker ordering his dismissal. He escaped
the Alkali Lake facility, killing many of Stryker's men.
Searching for Wraith,
Logan travels to Project: Wideawake, a secret government facility that produces
mutant-hunting Sentinel robots. There, he meets Raven, who is also searching
for the Wraith and reveals herself to be a mutant shape-shifter. She leads
Logan around the facility. Logan rescues Wraith and destroys a large Sentinel
prototype.
Wraith leads Logan to
Fred Dukes, a former team member. Fred Dukes tells him about a prison known as
"The Island", where the mutants are kept captive. He also mentions
the name “Remy Lebeau” the only mutant who escaped "The Island".

Logan reaches Remy, but
he escapes believing that he is one of Stryker's agents. Remy changes his mind
after defeating Logan and takes him to Stryker's island.
Logan confronts Stryker
and is surprised to see Kayla alive. He discovers that she used her persuasion
ability to seduce Logan. She faked her death to lead Logan into volunteering
for Weapon X. Stryker planned to create the ultimate mutant-killing
supersoldier "Weapon XI" combining multiple mutant DNAs.
Logan agrees to
cooperate but changes his decision as Kayla is taken hostage. Logan defeats
Victor but spares him at Kayla's pleadings. Kayla leaves to save her captive
sister.
Weapon XI then
confronts Logan, but Logan manages to kill him. Logan then finds Kayla injured
and near death; Stryker takes the opportunity and shoots him in the head. Kayla
persuades Stryker to walk until his feet bleed and drowns herself in a lake
after saying a tearful goodbye to the unconscious Logan. Logan wakes up alone
and aimless, recovering from the gunshot.
The epilogue takes
place around the same time as Prologue. We find Logan is being captive, and he
frees himself from his chains and escapes. Logan sees an army of Sentinels
patrolling the ruined city. He says, "The world may be broken, but I have the
tools to fix it."
