Call of Duty: MW3 - Mission: Down the Rabbit Hole

“Down The Rabbit Hole” is the seventeenth mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This is a joint operation of Delta Force and Task Force. Yuri is the playable character in this mission and the mission takes place in Eastern Siberia, Russia. The main objective is to save the President of Russia, Boris Vorshevsky, and his daughter.

In the cutscene, Sandman contacts Price informing that they lost the girl and she might be in a diamond mine in Siberia. They also discuss the plan of the operation.

At the very beginning of the mission we will find the joint force inside an elevator, there Price takes out a guard inside. The lift then starts its descent and reaches a lower floor. Joint Force opens fire upon a group of hostiles and in return enemies start to engage and shoot an RPG. Getting hit by the RPG the elevator starts dropping downwards and in the end, it crashes into the bottom of the mine. There they encounter a heavy Russian resistance. Joint Forces have to use their night vision goggles to identify and eliminate enemies. After clearing the area they climbed out of the elevator. They then split into two teams, Sandman sends Grinch and Truck through the left tunnel and he, Price and Yuri push forward taking the right over the tunnel. Through there both groups reach a large room. There, the Joint Forces engaged in a huge fight with the hostile. After killing them all, they Split again and push through the other two tunnels. They reach a metal door. Breaching that door they enter into a room and engage another grope of hostiles. Clearing the area, when Grinch informs that they need an alternative way forward, Sandman tells them to take the left stairwell.

"Stairwell, left side! Let’s go!" – Sandman

Ascending the stairwell joint force reaches level three of the mine, and from there they approach a door. Reaching the door, Sandman contacts and requests air support to Overlord. Overlord gives the team control over a UAV predator drone fully loaded with AGMs. Once they gain control over the drone, Price and Sandman kick the door open and eliminate the guards over the balcony. Just then the American and Russian aircraft flew over killing a large number of hostiles. When they are preparing to reach the ground, two allied birds arrive and drop some troops. Once Yuri reaches the ground he gets full access to the predator drone. While joining the reinforcements the team pushing forward, Yuri supporting his team manning the drone and the American-Russian birds are providing air support. The team clears the first construction yard and moves to the next. Clearing the second construction yard as they reach nears the entrance, Sandman reports to Overlord that, the UAV is destroyed by a surface-to-air missile and they need support with heavy firepower. Overlord then called an air strike on the entrance.

“We’re not getting in there without some heavy firepower!” – Price

After the strike Team Metal pushed into the mine. Inside the tunnel, they take a left drop down to the lower level and keep advancing until they reach a door. Yuri breaches the door, and they find Alena Vorshevsky tied to a chair there. Once the team breaches the room, Overlord asks for the status. Sandman reports that they found the girl, Overlord then orders them to continue the search for the President. Price unties her and lays her on a table. Alena is trying to say something in Russian. Truck interprets it as saying that, the girl says they took her father deeper into the mine.

“Then that’s where we’re going. C’mon.” – Sandman

They quickly run through a large door and find the President on a bridge, being escorted by enemy soldiers. The team encountered heavy firing from enemies on that bridge. The team eliminates the hostiles and prepares to rappel down from the bridge. Once they reach the bottom, they spot the President being taken inside a bunker. The enemies start resisting with everything they have. Eliminating all once they reach the bunker door, they find it much heavier to breach.

“It’s reinforced steel, we can’t get through this!” – Price

As they cannot make it through the door, the team reach the top of the bunker and breach in through the ceiling. They kill all the hostiles before they can execute the Russian President. As soon as they secure him, Sandman reports to Overlord. Overlord orders them to proceed to the RV. President asks about his daughter, she’s okay, Price answers.

"She's alright. She's alive." – Price

When the team prepares to escape with the President, explosions shake the mine. Sandman reposts the situation and asks for an air extraction, Overlord then informs that Hammer 1 will be there in 30 seconds. The team defends their position until the Hammer comes with a Vulture. Once the team moves, the Vulture gets hit by an RPG and crashes down near Yuri and knocks him down. Laying on the floor he sees Truck coming for him and Grinch helping the President get onto the Black Hawk and Sandman and Price are firing back at the hostiles to cover them up. When Truck starts dragging Yuri to the helicopter, Sandman tells Price to leave, but Price refuses.

"You better be right behind me!" – Price

Dodging the enemy fire while moving backward, Sandman asks Truck to cover the right side. Price then hands Yuri his M4 and takes him from Truck and Truck starts covering the right side.

The game enters into slow-motion mode now. As Yuri shoots at the hostiles, Grinch rolls over and escapes a blast. Sandman throws a mag to Truck, Truck reloads and resumes shooting. Grinch drops his MK and pulls out dual Desert Eagle. An RPG round nearly hits Sandman. A hostile runs towards him, Sandman takes him down with his knife and then throws the knife at another hostile. Sandman drops his weapon taking a bullet in his right arm, and draws out his Desert Eagle pistol with his left hand. Price gets in the chopper after he gets Yuri into it with the President's help.

When the Task Force is onboard with Presidents, Price asks the Metal Team to get into the chopper. As the situation is getting harder to resist, Sandman asks Hammer to take off and leave them behind. The Black Hawk is forced to take off, to dodge RPG fire. Although, Price shouts to the pilot to return to save Team Metal, the pilot pulls the chopper out of the hole, saying, if they go back, they all die. Price keeps trying to contact Sandman but there is no luck. The mission ends with news reports about President Vorshevsky returning, peace talks, and Vladimir Makarov.

There are two Intel in the mission “Down the Rabbit Hole”.

01. You will find the first one in a filing cabinet in a room. Once you reach the large room through the first tunnel. Look to your left you will notice “44” written on a wall, go to that room, and look for the Intel there.

02. The second Intel is in the room from where you save the President. After killing all the enemies inside turn around, and you will see a gap on your right under the collapsed roof. Go through there you will find it on a barrel over there.
